How to play
♟️ As you know, we have developed a new variant of chess: the Immortal variant, which involves quests. However, you can also play without the quest mechanics by simply selecting the “Standard Variant”.
You can either play to rank on a leaderboard via the “Play” section or play to train without ranking via the “Training Session” section.
How to play the Standard Variant
From the homepage, click on “Play”. First, select in the “Opponent” section who you want to play against:
- Anybody → Play against a random player online.
- Friend → You will get an invitation link that you can send to your friend to play against him.
- Computer → Play against the computer to practice. You can select the difficulty in the “Computer level” section.
Then, in the “Variant” section, click on “Standard”. Finally, select the pace on the “Speed” section. Click on play and enjoy!
How to play the Immortal Variant
To play the Immortal variant, you will need Immortals or Ageless.
- How to get Immortals
You can get Immortals by:
- Securing a high rank on the free-to-play AP Leaderboard, thus earning them for free at the end of every Leaderboard week.
- Buying them directly on our Marketplace. To do so, you will need to place a bid to try to win the Immortal of your choice.
- Buying them from another player through our secondary market.
Find all the explanations here.
- How to claim Ageless pieces:
From the homepage, on the “Build your team” section, click on “Ageless Pieces”. Then, click on “Get your Ageless Pawn”. This is your first Ageless piece. Once you have fulfilled your first Ageless piece quest, you can claim your next Ageless Immortal at the same place.
Now that you have either an Ageless or Immortal piece, you can play the Immortal variant. To do so, from the homepage, click on “play”. First, select in the “Opponent” section who you want to play against:
- Anybody → Play against a random player online.
- Friend → You will get an invitation link that you can send to your friend to play against him.
- Computer → Play against the computer to practice. You can select the difficulty in the “Computer level” section.
Then, in the “Variant” section, click on “Immortal” and select the pace in the “Speed” section. Click on play. Once you have found an opponent, you will have one minute to place your Ageless/Immortal pieces on the board. To do so, select your pieces on the right side of the screen and choose where you want to place them. Finally, click on “Ready”.
You can also create a preset, so you don't have to place your pieces at each game. To do so, place your pieces on the board and click “Create” next to “Ready”. Then, give it a name and click on “Submit”. You will find this preset in the following games you play in the "Presets" tab.
